🌤️ TODAY'S WEATHER - Tuesday, July 14
🌡️ High: ~93° | Feels like 105-110° | Hot, hazy, heat advisory
Dangerous heat continues, with heat indices running 105 to 110 each afternoon and another plume of Saharan dust keeping skies hazy and rain chances near zero. There's also a high rip current risk at the beach. Hydrate, take midday breaks in the shade, never leave kids or pets in a parked car, and swim near a lifeguard.

TODAY'S TOP STORY

Now that the confetti has settled on our quarterfinal, here's the question everyone's asking: was it worth it? The projections were enormous - more than 5 million visitors to the region and a headline figure of roughly $2.1 billion in economic impact for South Florida.
The more grounded numbers: the seven matches at Hard Rock Stadium are projected to generate over $650 million in direct spending - hotel stays, restaurants, retail - and around 9,000 jobs. FIFA's own estimate puts the local impact closer to $1.5 billion, while other analysts land nearer $1.3 billion.
Economists caution that headline figures like these usually run hot, and that some spending simply gets shifted around rather than added. But for Hollywood's restaurants, bars, and hotels, a packed summer of soccer meant real money in the till - and our global profile got a serious boost.

One more to go. Hard Rock Stadium hosts the World Cup Bronze Final this Saturday, July 18, at 5 p.m. - and here's the fun trivia: Miami is the only city in the entire tournament hosting the third-place match.
It's the stadium's seventh and final World Cup game, capping a run that included four group-stage matches, a Round of 32, and that England-Norway quarterfinal that went to extra time. The two teams will be whoever falls in Wednesday's semifinals.
Then it's over. The Final heads to New York/New Jersey on Sunday, July 19. If you want one last taste of the tournament in your own backyard, Saturday is your shot.

It is dangerously hot out there, and it isn't letting up. Heat advisories are in effect across Broward, with feels-like temperatures hitting 105 to 110 degrees just about every afternoon this week.
Another plume of Saharan dust has moved in as well, which means hazy, milky skies, very low rain chances, and even more heat. And at the beach, forecasters are warning of a high rip current risk along the Broward coast.
The playbook is the same as always: hydrate before you're thirsty, take midday breaks in the shade or A/C, check on older neighbors, never leave kids or pets in a parked car, and only swim near a lifeguard. Save the outdoor plans for early morning or after 5.

JetBlue has rolled out its largest-ever flight schedule at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, bumping daily flights up 75% over last year as it moves into the gap left by Spirit's shutdown.
The airline is running close to 130 daily flights this summer and expects to hit 150 by winter. New nonstops include Baltimore, Charlotte, Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago, Indianapolis, San Diego, and Columbus, with international service to Cali and Barranquilla in Colombia, Ponce in Puerto Rico, and Caracas still to come.
For the front-of-plane crowd, JetBlue's lie-flat Mint service to San Diego starts November 19 - the only lie-flat seat on that route - with Los Angeles and San Francisco to follow this winter. The airline is also hiring, and actively recruiting former Spirit crew members.

A little London glamour has arrived just up the road. Signor Sassi, the celebrity-magnet Italian restaurant that's been a Knightsbridge institution for four decades, has opened its first-ever U.S. location in Hallandale Beach at 1006 E. Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
It's the same formula that made the original famous: a lively room, polished service, and classic Italian done properly. Think spaghettini with lobster, mezze maniche alla carbonara with seasonal truffle, and a Wagyu tomahawk built for sharing, backed by a deep wine list and a full cocktail program.
The Hallandale outpost joins Signor Sassi locations in Dubai, Doha, and Egypt - one more sign of how fast our neighbor to the south is climbing the dining ranks.
