Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months

That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting — which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.

Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.

Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends — all Keurig®-compatible — and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.

New customers get 15% off their first order — applied automatically, no code needed.

🌤️ TODAY’S WEATHER - Thursday, July 16

🌡️ High: ~94° | Feels like 105-110° | Hot, hazy, heat advisory
No relief in sight. A massive Saharan dust plume - stretching some 5,000 miles across the Atlantic - is keeping skies hazy and rain chances low while trapping heat, with afternoon indices around 110. Even the nights stay warm, barely dipping below 80 near the coast. Hydrate, take midday breaks in the shade, never leave kids or pets in a parked car, and check on older neighbors.

TODAY'S TOP STORY

The World Cup Final is set, and it’s a blockbuster: Argentina vs Spain this Sunday, July 19. Defending champions Argentina rallied past England in the semifinal - Lionel Messi setting up two late goals - while Spain dismantled France to book their spot. Messi, in what’s likely his last World Cup, is one win from back-to-back titles.

You don’t have to fly to New York to feel it. Downtown Hollywood’s official Watch Party returns to Hollywood Boulevard (between 19th and 21st Avenues), putting the biggest match in soccer on multiple giant outdoor screens. Gates open at noon and kickoff is 3 p.m., with DJs, live music, food trucks, and specials at downtown businesses all day.

The last downtown watch party drew more than 30,000 people and hit capacity, so plan to arrive early - there’s a free City Hall shuttle. And don’t forget Saturday’s Bronze Final, England vs France, is right up the road at Hard Rock. What a week to be here.

📰 NEWS & STORIES

Image: Hollywood Historical Society

Nearly 100 years ago, the 1926 Miami Hurricane tore through the young City of Hollywood, leaving widespread destruction and reshaping the town’s future. Now the Hollywood Historical Society is telling that story in a new exhibition: Force of Nature: Hurricanes and Hollywood.

Curated by Andy Ruffner, the show explores the storms that shaped our city - from the 1926 disaster onward - and how they still influence the community today, drawing on photos and artifacts from the Society’s research archives. It opens with a reception on Wednesday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the ArtsPark Gallery and runs through September 30.

There’s a timely bonus: right after the reception, at 7:30 p.m., the City of Hollywood and the National Weather Service will host a hurricane-preparedness workshop - a smart stop in the heart of storm season. Details at hollywoodhistoricalsociety.org.

Good news if you ride the rails: Brightline has brought back a money-saving multi-ride pass on the busy West Palm Beach-Fort Lauderdale corridor - and it drops the cost per trip below what the train charged when it first launched back in 2018.

The new 40-ride pass runs $359, or about $9 a trip - cheaper than the $10 one-way fare Brightline debuted with. There are smaller options too: 10 rides for $239 and 20 for $319. The company says it revived the passes to serve the wave of businesses relocating their headquarters into the two downtowns.

For Hollywood riders, the nearby Fort Lauderdale and Aventura stations make Brightline a comfortable, traffic-free option (the West Palm-Fort Lauderdale run takes about 40 minutes), and cheaper repeat rides make it an even easier sell. Passes are at gobrightline.com and in the Brightline app.

Looking to escape the heat without leaving town? Anne Kolb Nature Center, tucked inside the 1,500-acre West Lake Park in Hollywood, is one of the coolest spots around - literally.

The center offers shaded boardwalk trails winding through one of the county’s largest mangrove preserves, a five-story observation tower with sweeping views, a marine exhibit hall, and boat and kayak rentals if you want to explore the water. It’s a favorite for families, birdwatchers, and anyone craving a little quiet green space.

You’ll find it at 751 Sheridan Street. It’s an easy, low-cost outing - pack water, go early to beat the midday heat, and keep an eye out for herons, ospreys, and the occasional manatee. Check Broward County Parks for hours and rental info.

Downtown Hollywood becomes an open-air gallery this weekend. The Downtown Hollywood ArtWalk returns Saturday, July 18 from 6 to 10 p.m., filling the streets with local artists, makers, and live creativity.

Stroll the district to browse work from painters, photographers, and craftspeople, catch live music, and pop into the restaurants and shops along Harrison Street and Hollywood Boulevard. It’s free, family-friendly, and one of the best low-key nights out downtown.

Bonus: it lands the same evening as the Colombia Independence Celebration nearby at ArtsPark (see today’s Spotlight), so you can make a whole night of it. Come hungry and stay a while.

South Florida’s Colombian community is throwing a party, and everyone’s invited. The Colombia Independence Celebration takes over ArtsPark at Young Circle this Saturday, July 18, from 4 to 11 p.m. - marking Colombia’s Independence Day (July 20) with a full evening of culture in the heart of downtown Hollywood.

Expect live music and dancing, traditional food and drink, vendors, and family-friendly fun in a part of South Florida that’s home to one of the region’s largest Colombian populations. It’s free to attend, and it’s a joyful, flavorful way to spend a summer Saturday - whether you’re celebrating your heritage or just love a good fiesta.

Bring the family, come hungry, and plan ahead for parking or the free downtown options. And if you’re already downtown for ArtWalk that night, even better. ¡Viva Colombia!
