TODAY'S TOP STORY

📌 Hollywood Beach Project Paused After Residents Push Back — "They Took Too Much Beach" A Broward County shoreline protection project on Hollywood Beach has been put on pause after a wave of complaints from beachgoers, residents and Broadwalk business owners. The county-led project was designed to protect the coastline from erosion by adding sand and planting seagrass and dune vegetation — but locals say the result has taken away far too much of the actual beach. One frustrated visitor summed it up: "They got like 40 feet of seagrass and then 20 feet of beach for the people." Business owners along the Broadwalk say reduced beach space is already starting to hurt foot traffic and revenue. "They're taking half the beach away — that's gonna affect my revenue," said one restaurant owner. City officials acknowledged the pushback and paused the project while they reassess. Sound familiar? Hollywood residents are fighting for their beach on multiple fronts this year — and they're not staying quiet about it.
