Brand new from the City of Hollywood - starting Monday June 29, the city will offer free sand and sandbags to residents on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. With hurricane season now in full swing and the peak months of August and September approaching, this is exactly the kind of practical preparation every Hollywood homeowner and renter should be aware of. 2. 🏠 Free Property Tax Exemption Help at Hollywood City Hall This Week

The Broward County Property Appraiser's office is coming directly to Hollywood City Hall to help residents file for Homestead, Senior and other property tax exemptions - completely free of charge. BCPA staff will be available at Hollywood City Hall Second Floor from 10:30 AM to 12 PM. Schedule your appointment at web.bcpa.net/ExemptionsExpress - slots between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. If you haven't filed your Homestead Exemption yet - this is the easiest possible way to get it done without driving to Fort Lauderdale.

3. ✈️ Spirit Airlines' Dania Pointe Headquarters Is For Sale - Bids Due This Wednesday

The fate of Spirit Airlines' sleek Dania Beach headquarters - barely two years old when the airline collapsed - is about to be decided. Initial bids are due this Wednesday June 24 at 4 PM, with final bids due July 20 and a potential auction in New York on July 22. Three companies have already submitted offers, though names remain confidential. Broward County had considered buying the building for government offices but Mayor Mark Bogen confirmed Sunday evening the county won't be bidding - partly at the urging of Dania Beach Mayor Joyce Davis, who cited the loss of potential tax revenue. Spirit shut down abruptly on May 2 leaving 17,000 employees out of work - more than 2,500 based right here at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Who ends up in that Dania Pointe building next will be one of the bigger local business stories of the summer.
