A tragic incident off Hollywood Beach has sparked a renewed and urgent conversation about boating safety near our shoreline. A 31-year-old woman died while snorkeling in the shallow waters near Hollywood Beach - and divers and ocean safety advocates are now calling on the City of Hollywood to scrap plans that would allow boats to operate closer to shore. The Axios Hollywood exclusive reports that the diving community is pushing back hard, citing the danger to swimmers, snorkelers and divers who regularly use the shallow Guardians of the Reef artificial reef structures just 300 feet offshore. 3. ✈️ Breeze Airways Is Adding New Flights from FLL This Fall

FLL keeps getting better. Discount carrier Breeze Airways is adding new nonstop routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Dayton, Ohio and Trenton, New Jersey this fall - filling routes left vacant by Spirit Airlines' May shutdown. Breeze is known for its affordable fares, comfortable seating and no-fee flexible booking policies. Published yesterday June 24, this is the latest in a string of new FLL route announcements showing just how strong demand is at our hometown airport.

4. ⚽ Hollywood Boulevard Watch Party - This Saturday June 27 - Full Logistics

Two days from today - this Saturday June 27 at 4 PM - Downtown Hollywood hosts its biggest event ever. Hollywood Boulevard closes from 7 AM June 27 through 3 AM June 28. Two World Cup matches on giant screens - England vs Panama at 5 PM AND Colombia vs Portugal at 7:30 PM - then live concerts from Los Wizzards and AleMor at 9:30 PM. Free parking at City Hall (2600 Hollywood Blvd) with Sun Shuttle from 2 PM to 2 AM. $10 parking at four city garages from 3 PM. Entry checkpoints at 19th and 21st Ave - under 18 must be with a parent or guardian. Arrive early - gates close at maximum capacity. This is going to be a night Hollywood talks about for years.
